AlphaXO walks from Sydney to Longreach for Black Dog Institute
During October, staff from AlphaXO Risk Partners walked the equivalent of North Sydney to Longreach, QLD as part of the Black Dog Institute’s One Foot Forward Challenge.
One Foot Forward is an exercise-based fundraising event to support mental health and AlphaXO managed to raise in excess of $20,000 for the cause. These funds will enable the Black Dog Institute to provide more support to the one in five Australians who suffer mental illness, and show those living with mental illness that they’re not alone.
The final distance travelled of 1,878kms ended up taking the team from their McMahon’s Point, North Sydney office past Longreach to Winton, Queensland, the birthplace of Qantas.
AlphaXO Managing Director, Andrew Glover said that all participants should be incredibly proud of this accomplishment, “We have been delighted with the level of staff participation and the positive support they’ve received for the challenge, during a time when most of the company was coping with lockdowns. It was a team effort and every kilometre covered helped us to achieve our goal, raising money on the way. We smashed our original target, of walking the equivalent of 913 kms to Brisbane, and achieved the lockdown-busting, final destination in central Queensland, quarantine free!”
He added, “We had a number of people cover over 150 kms in the month and others individually raise in excess of $1,000 – both fantastic achievements – all at AlphaXO would like to thank everyone who sponsored the team.”
